We were pleased to be selected as the art provider for Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant (LVMG), once again partnering with Lisa Cowan, Project Architect at RLPS, on a senior living art program. Completed toward the end of 2025, the project encompassed several residential buildings and the Performing Arts Center. Once everything was installed, LVMG came back to us with one more request: a custom baptismal font for the chapel. Could we provide that for them? Yes, we could.
Image options for the font bowl were provided, and a drawing of the stand was rendered from the description LVMG gave us — part of the custom art commission process we offer for faith-based and community spaces. A selection for the bowl and approval of the concept drawing were made quickly. The stand would stand 30” high, made of quarter-sawn white oak with a water-based flat clear coat finish. The bowl would be the Purple Rose geode design.
From there, the commission went into the hands of our capable artisans: Kerry Brooks and her terrific staff at Dock 6 Pottery, and Mike Padykula, owner of Kula Solutions. This kind of bespoke art commission depends on close collaboration between craftspeople — first things first, Mike needed the bowl in hand before he could start the stand. We had to downsize the bowl by 2 inches, which made for a few stressful days. Kerry and her crew came through, and we received a flawless work of art, packed with such care it was a marvel to behold. Mike got to work on the stand and returned both pieces to us to ship to LVMG.
Nothing is better than hearing, “It looks great!”
This is what we mean when we say we handle a project from concept to installation — custom art fabrication, sourcing, and the small custom details that don’t fit a standard order. For a custom art installation outside the catalog that is unique to you, let’s talk.
