Every business has its firsts. As we approach our 30th anniversary at Booth Framing, one stands out: our first senior living project—and the fact that we are once again working with those same partners.

Our very first senior living project was with Stacy Hollinger, then an interior designer at Reese, Lower, Patrick and Scott, now known as RLPS Architects, and their client Mennonite Home Communities in Lancaster, PA. They provided a ‘young company’ with an opportunity to try their wings.   That was over 20 years ago and it’s great to say that RLPS and Stacy, now a Senior Partner at RLPS, Mennonite Home Communities, now known as Tandem Living, and Booth Framing are all still around and flourishing!

Fast forward to today and we find ourselves working at Woodcrest Villa, one of Tandem Living’s independent living communities.  Specifically, we are designing and sourcing the artwork, along with Senior Interior Designer Jessie Shappell at RLPS, for the residents in a large apartment building, Eagle Wing.  What’s kept this collaboration alive?  Trust. Trust that’s been shared between and among each party.  Underlying that trust is a shared appreciation for the quality of community each party values.

For Eagle Wing, we came together early in the overall process. Jessie provided plans, color boards and FF&E documents for finishes and represented Tandem Living’s direction for bright, colorful, crisp images that reflect the Tandem Living community and the personality of the Eagle Wing community in particular.   We knew the images would need to be diverse to appeal to the residents as well as to visitors and staff.  Tandem Living defined the target number of art placements for the 5-story renovation and common meeting space.

Booth Framing proceeded to provide concept images to RLPS and Tandem Living, which were refined to meet their vision.  These were then placed on plans and reviewed and revised by RLPS to achieve the requisite flow in the corridors, then presented to the Tandem Living administration for review, revision and final approval.

We are currently in production with installation scheduled for September.  As the construction process unfolds, we will coordinate the delivery and installation with RLPS and Tandem Living until there is a firm date for the art to arrive and the installation to begin.

Here are some of the images that will decorate the corridor walls in Eagle Wing.  Stay tuned and we’ll feature the final placements after install!
