First Peak of the Blue Ridge: A Scenic Tour | Booth Framing

A Scenic Tour of Our Blue Ridge Foothills

There’s a reason we describe Booth Framing as sitting at the First Peak of the Blue Ridge. Columbus, North Carolina is a small town in Polk County, which is home to around 20,000 people — but it sits right where the land starts to change. From our studio, the foothills roll gently at first, and then, not far down the road, they climb into the heart of the Appalachians: the Blue Ridge and the Great Smoky Mountains beyond.

It’s a region people travel a long way to see. Nearby you’ll find the Carl Sandburg Home, the Biltmore Estate, and Chimney Rock State Park, along with waterfalls tucked into hollows, hiking trails that climb through hardwood forest, and rivers good for fishing and swimming. Every season changes the mountains completely — the pale green of early spring, the deep summer haze that gives the Blue Ridge its name, the color that pulls visitors here every October, and the quiet blue-grey of winter ridgelines.

We see all of it, year-round, from where we work. So we thought we’d share some of that view — a collection of pieces we’ve sourced that capture the foothills and mountains we get to call home, in every season.

Whether you’re sourcing art for a project in the mountains or just curious what’s outside our door, we hope this gives you a small sense of why this place stays with us.

Wherever your next project is grounded — a mountain town, a coastline, a stretch of farmland — we like starting there. If there’s a landscape that belongs in your space, we’d love to help you find it. Get in touch and let’s talk about what your project is standing on.
